Saint Stepanos Monastery
August 4, 2020 , IRAN , EAST AZARBAYJANSt. Stephen's Church is the second most important church of Armenians in Iran, after Qara Church. This building is located in East Azarbaijan province, 17 kilometers west of Jolfa city and 3 kilometers from the south bank of Aras river in a place called "Qezel Vank" (red monastery). This church was built in the 9th century, but it was seriously damaged due to an earthquake, and it was restored during the Safavid era. This work was registered as one of Iran's national works on March 15, 1341 with registration number 429.
