Abbas Kiarostami
July 9, 2016 , IRANMourners receive a poster bearing a portrait of Iranian film-maker Abbas Kiarostami during a ceremony at the Centre for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults in the Iranian capital Tehran ahead of his funeral in the town of Lavasan. Kiarostami, who won the coveted Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 for "Taste of Cherry", emerged from the Iranian New Wave of the late 1960s to become one of the world's most revered directors. Several thousands cinema lovers and dozens of top artists and politicians in Tehran bid farewell to Kiarostami, who died in Paris last week at the age of 76.
