Shahsavan Nomadic woman in front of Sabalan

October 22, 2006 , IRAN , TEHRAN

A Shahsavan nomad woman poses for a photograph in front of Sabalan Peak. The Shahsavan are a nomadic tribe located in northwest Iran near the Azerbaijan frontier. These Azeri-Turkish speaking Nomads migrate between their winter quarters, (gheshlagh), in the Mughan steppe of Azerbaijan, and their summer quarters, (Yeylaq), around Mount Sabalan, approximately one hundred fifty miles to the south.
