People buying Christmas decorations. As celebrations marking the beginning of the New Year take place around the world, Tehran takes on a Christmas atmosphere on 4 Dey, corresponding to December 25. Mirza-ye Shirazi Street in Tehran, one of the main business hubs of the Armenian community, becomes crowded, much like the days leading up to Nowruz, as many people come to stroll, shop, or take photos with Santa Claus and the Christmas tree.
